Alta Marea (translated from Italian meaning “high tide,” is made up of members of The University of Alabama Million Dollar Band Color Guard who wish to continue performing during the winter and spring months.  Alta Marea began competing in the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit and Winter Guard International in 2006 and 2025 will mark our 20th year to field a competitive group.  Alta Marea has been a WGI World Championships finalist 15 times.  In 2024 we were the silver medalist in the Independent Open classification.  In 2025 we will be competing in Independent World.  Even though the members attend The University of Alabama, Alta Marea receives no financial support from the University.  Team members much balance tuition and academic responsibilities with the costs of equipment, costumes, travel, and competition fees to participate in regional and national events.  We have various fund raising opportunities throughout the year.  Follow our social media for announcements of these opportunities or visit our "Donate" page to see how you can help.
