In 2024, Alta Marea was the Independent Open silver medalist at WGI World Championships.  By virtue of this achievement, Alta Marea was promoted to compete in the Independent World class which is the highest division of WGI.  In April, Alta Marea will once again be traveling to Dayton, OH to represent The University of Alabama at WGI World Championships.  Alta Marea (translated from Italian meaning high tide) is a student organization at The University of Alabama made up of members of the Million Dollar Band Colorguard who wish to perform and compete during the spring semester. As such, we are responsible for raising our own funds for costumes, props, and equipment along with travel expenses such as buses, hotel accommodations, and meals.
